When Sound Healing Hurts

I recently attended a sound healing and the experience was extremely uncomfortable for me. During it, I opened my eyes, looked around the room and I found the majority of the participants had turned onto their sides into a fetal position and were covering their exposed ear. Afterwards, my friend, who also attended the session, confessed to me that she had a hard time restraining herself from leaving. Unfortunately, I've had this happen more than once.
So, what's going on here? I reached out to a dear friend of mine who's been a sound healer for over 10 years and studied under a well renowned program. She said sometime the sound healer emits their own negative energy. I didn't buy that.
Since my healing from multiple debilitating symptoms which also included electromagnetic frequency sensitivities, I understood that vibration, frequency, sound, light, can cause severe negative reactions in the body BUT they were also the key to healing! When I was around strong EMF frequencies, my symptoms were so strong that my body would get random muscle twitches, my ears and head were pounding and like so many of my patients suffering from mold or Lyme, I had extreme sensitivities to light and sound. Even my own humming hurt my head. During this time I actually invested in a electromagnetic reader so that I could avoid areas with high electromagnetic fields. I could not understand how I could be so sensitive while others were fine.
Because of this severe reaction, I dove deep into the research. Why are certain people more susceptible to these frequencies and in the case of group sound healing, could it affect different participants in different ways?
Lets look a bit deeper, we already know that certain frequencies can be very harmful to the human body. Its a known fact that the military has utilized low frequency weapons to damage the human body, disperse crowds, confuse the enemy. On the other hand, there are certain frequencies that have been shown to heal certain areas of the body depending on each system and its frequency. Even the earth has it's own frequency of 7.83Hz (The Schumann resonance). Interestingly, the body resonates in synchronicity to this frequency and when thrown off, suffers immensely. Unfortunately, we are now a culture that rarely connects our body to the earth but instead we tend to stay inside plugged into our T.V., cell phones, computers, and not to mention the "smart" technology in our homes, the cell towers, and satellites disturbing the natural electromagnetic field of the earth and our bodies. It's no wonder we are a generation that suffers greatly from various illnesses and mental health disturbance. We are out of balance with ourselves and the earth.
So, what can we do about it? I was really disappointed that the sound healing bath wasn't an easy answer. BUT, I've always stressed to my clients that one size does not fit all when it comes to healing. Just like the gut microbiome changes constantly, so does our whole cellular structure. We are fluid beings and need to adapt our healing to the present moment. We may have different imbalances in certain areas of our body and how we meet that frequency can either help us or harm us, its very individual. And as deep as I dive into the research, I truly believe there isn't a particular method or tool to decipher the sound/energy/frequency that is needed that matches the the intuition coming from the individual.
Looking back, when I was working as a midwife, I would encouraged my moms to make sounds during labor and at first they'd be hesitant, maybe needing some guidance, but as they went inward, the sounds were very instinctual, natural, and always different for each woman, ranging from a low tribal moaning to high note opera singing...and needless to say, babies were born soon after. We KNOW what primal sounds our body needs to heal and I encourage my clients to dive deeply with me to discover what THEY can discover about healing themselves. And it can be as easy as a song, a hum but I feel it needs to come from the source. YOU.
In conclusion, I feel that sound, vibration, and frequencies all hold the key to our healing both physical, spiritual, and mental. The science is there and I attribute my own healing to intuitively finding my inner source of knowing which frequencies I need in the moment and I do feel we have to be discerning about what we seek. If you know my course work or have been a client of mine, I encourage my clients to find the healer within and help them with tools to discover the core being of themselves. Our bodies hold the knowledge of what we need. Listen deeply and hear that song that your soul wants to sing to you.
